Anderson
The Town of Anderson was long occupied by indigenous peoples, then settled by Europeans and creole Spanish during Spanish colonial rule. Anglo-Americans began to enter the area in the 1820s from the Southern United States. Anderson has long been referred to as the “Little Rome of Texas” since it is built upon seven hills as Rome is built upon seven hills. There are many interesting stories about Anderson. Bonnie & Clyde passed through the area robbing a local business. More recent, Hollywood came to town in 1997 when Goldie Hawn directed her first movie for television “Hope.” Local citizens were cast in the film and fun was had by all.
